Hi Everyone. This is just a rough draft of mine and Garrett's announcement. Just imagine it with out all of the "Love" letters. Its just going to say "Garrett and Emily." The front of it has a couple more pictures of us and the normal announcement stuff. We should have them by Monday.

Even though he steals his blanket, and locks him in the pantry, and likes to tease him a lot, Tucker loves Grandad. But I suppose he also shares his tomatoes, and shows him the horny toads and explores the back yard. He heard his voice when were were at Ellie's water polo game (which she won and did awesome at!) even though he couldn't see him, he turned around and started searching. It was pretty cute.

Britta and Al came and visited us. It was so fun. Lily loves Britta so much. Here they are "chuggling" and sleeping together in the living room. Britta took Lily trick or treating at the stake trunk or treat. Everyone kept telling her how cute her daughter was. :) They are pretty cute together.

Hi Everyone. We are so so so so excited to come to Nevada City for Christmas this year!!! It is going to be so fun. It is going to be a first for a lot of people. Tucker, Bryan, Britta, and Garrett will be with us for the first time!!!

Alan and Britta are here this weekend!!!! They are so nice to come and visit us. We love them so much. We were all wondering who we had for Christmas, so we started brainstorming. We decided to resurrect the formula this year. So, we made a list of the siblings in age order with their spouses below them in the list. We went to the Ranch and fed the cows.

Tucker fell in LOVE with riding the 4 wheeler.

He is having a great time playing at Nana's house with her blocks and cars and various seasonal decorations.

And eating himself sick on Granddad's tomatoes that are still coming!

And having a great time at Aunt Ellie's birthday party last week!! Yay Ellie. Tucker tries to say her name. He is pretty close. We have been having quite a fun time.

Yes, it's been warm here, but not really this warm. Tucker loved it.

Hi family I have been living in Sugarhouse, Utah--looking for work, housing, friends, and life all around. It has been a learning adventure. I am quite busy during the day even without a job and spend a lot of money on gasolina somehow. Anyway, some things I do in Utah:

1. Go to the temple--there are so many and so close! I have a goal to go to all in Utah.

2. Listen to Thurl Bailey at a fireside. Did you know he is also a singer and song-writer? And a very entertaining speaker. He was baptized a few years ago.

3. Enjoy the Great Outdoors! Bike up the canyon and try to improve my soccer skills

4. Support Camille singing at shows, waterfalls, clubs, etc.

5. Conference weekend- So many different friends came out to visit: old roommates, nevada city friends, sisters, and mission companions. (These are also the pictures of my new house!)

Here are some things I've learned about Alan during the past year of being married to him:
*He'll fall asleep during a movie regardless of what time you start it. Even if it's still light outside.

*He has a widespread reputation, either for being the guy who did something crazy and got hurt, or (most often) for being the guy who ate a lot of candy at a public event or celebration

*He's not afraid to wear bicycle spandex ANYWHERE

*He does not function well in heat or traffic

*He washes dishes completely before he puts them in the dishwasher

*He's wonderful and sweet and hilarious - but we all knew that already.

Sister Outing 2011!

Calling all sisters! So there have been many ideas for the sister outing this year but I think this one is the winner. First, it will be the first weekend in August (the 5 - 7) if that works for everyone. If it doesn't then tell me. So we will be camping by the coast in the Redwoods somewhere. We will drive there thursday morning and get there by early afternoon and stay til either saturday morning or afternoon and then come back. its about a 3 1/2 hour drive I believe. Anyways, it should be lots and lots of fun! If you approve please comment on your approval. If you do not approve or can think of better ideas then please let us know of them. Thank you!

It was really fun to have Julia and Bryan come over for the weekend and a bit more. We relaxed, went to the beach, Julia was pretty much a pro surfer at Kahana, made 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies each day Julia was here, and ate them all up lickety-split. Tucker had a great time with them both and we were sad to say goodbye!

Julia was showing us how she is learning to draw model faces for her design classes. Not bad, eh?

1. April General Conference

Mom, Dad, and I fit in a short utah trip to go to conference and visit Ape, the Larsens, and some mission friends.

Hna (Kathy Jo) Hanson let us use her 3 tickets she had for her family and then Elder Rose and I scalped 2 more tickets for mom and dad. We all went inside for the Sunday Morning Session!

We went to Yogurtland with Ape, her boyfriend Andrew, and Camille! Camille entertained us with stories and Andrew talked to us about his computer job, archeology major, and usta. He's a very nice Kentuckian.

2. KT, Gio, Zeke, and Lili came during spring break!

Gio sat in on the post-game pep talk--he's not shy at all! (That's him in red.) Capital Ellie is the best and best-looking goalie ever, despite their loss that day.

3. Snowboarding with Britta and Alan

Only Al would spot a half-burried ziplock back of red vines from the ski lift and then snowboard down to find them for us. Thank Al!

Britta is already pretty much going Professional after her first time snowboarding! She did so well she even flew into the air a few times landing unpleasantly and even throwing up. She's a really good sport.

4. Yesenia

It was fun to see Yesenia at the YSA Fireside at the mormon center last week. She said she wasn't sure if it was me until I smiled and she could identify the "demartini teeth." I'm not sure what "demartini teeth" look like.

5. Yet another snow storm

One of the pine trees fell on the Taylor's house. They are all okay.

The Goddards, Mom, Dad, Jules, and I really enjoyed ourselves in Palm Desert watching tennis, swimming, and enjoying the resort--yes we are really spoiled. It was fun though and for $21 for the day we could all go next year watch the best tennis players in the world battle out long points and 140 mph serves! Along with McDonald's, Disneyland, and General Conference, it is just one of those happiest places.

I am way overdue for a post, yet I have so much to share and I'm not sure how I could sum up the best 1.5 years of my life--in Argentina! So I will try. The things that impressed me many times on my mission were not all the cultural differences and traditions (although there are many), but all the ways that we are the same. We are all heavenly father's children looking for our way back home with him! We all want to feel loved. I love the gospel and Heavenly Father's plan for us! Sharing it with our brothers and sisters is the most important thing we can do! Anyway, here are the similarities...

The Weather

It is hot in the summer and cold in the winter, as is utah, but maybe even more so. Summer highs - 50 degrees C!; Winter - just snow. I didn't quite as enjoy working in the freezing cold. I don't like to not feel my toes.

City Traffic

This is downtown Salta capital. No lines, no rules, no police. In a way it more efficient--if there's space with maybe a few inches on each side of the car, you're good. There's no need to wait for the person in front of you.

Thunder showers--when it rains it POURS!

We walked home many times in water up to our knees but it was all good because it meant we didn't have to wash the mud off our shoes. In Palermo, Salta we were caught in the biggest and closest electric storm I have ever imagined. The lightning was right over my head and we saw "rayos" (bolts) striking demasiado cerca. A mother and daughter in the country were struck by lightning that night and killed.

All you need is love. Everybody is looking for it.

Soccer-Tennis

Everything is some version of soccer. In the front yard, they play soccer-tennis with 2 teams and a net. Each team member may touch it once before kicking it over the net without the ball hitting the ground. A very fun game.

Not just letters, but whole words written on the mountain sides. Of course it would be religious. "God is Love"

I love Argentina and I love serving our Heavenly King by sharing the gospel with His children. Let's not focus on our differences but our similarities! Let's keep sharing the good news with all those around us!

Not to brag, but for those of you who don't know, I designed, made the pattern and sewed my wedding dress and all the bridesmaids' dresses, (see the pictures below). I really liked everything about my wedding. Danny made a delicious thai food feast the night before; April, Kristen and Justine did all the flowers and other decor and did a fabulous job; Doug, Danny and Al put up the orb lights. Tons of efforts were made by all of my family members, and it made the whole thing turn out great. Thanks to everyone!

In case you were all wondering.... the birth certificate people gave us until Tuesday at 11am to get the name in, so I'm guessing that's when we'll have the big news. He's getting bigger everyday. He's already 6lbs4oz. He gained 5oz in the last 2 days already! He's sleeping pretty good, eating a lot, crying a lot less since his soooo sad diaper rash is getting better. And he smiles a lot :) And he's verrrry cute! And he can hardly wait to meet everyone!

friday night happenings

Need something to do on a Friday night?
So I got out this electroshock kinda machine I got to help with my neck and shoulder after my car accident that I never used because I got pregnant right after. But Doug wanted to try it out on his shoulder and knee and basically everywhere and he has been having a great time shocking himself and others. Luckily since I'm pregnant he only tried it on me once on my leg... But Enos and Holli, not so lucky. We found out that Enos can take the voltage as high as it goes. He is the winner of the torture contest. Then Doug, then Holli, and then probably me. It was pretty entertaining though, and kinda freaky since it contorts your muscles and makes your hands and fingers and feet and muscles do all sorts of weird looking things. We should probably not make a habit of this.

Julia's 1/2 Marathon!

Julia Gulia did a half marathon in Moab this weekend! It was pretty cold there, but we had a fun time in the beautiful Canyonlands. She finished the half marathon (13 miles) and she didn't even get picked up by the shuttle (for people on the main road past 12:30). As she crossed the finish line, the announcer said "Julia DeMartini!" and the song sang "Pour some sugar on me" by Def Leppard. It was quite perfect. She finished in under 3 hours. Yay for her. :) She was immediately sore after the long run though.

This is a glass cube design I made in my Floral Design class. I really like this class. I'm really excited for spring, hence the vibrant spring colors. I gave it to my roommate Zia for her birthday.

They announced Natalie multiple times on the loud speaker. She did awesome.... And the cheerleaders weren't bad either.

hey everyone! so this is my powderpuff team, the class of 2010! this is us the morning before the big game in which we won 50-0! the biggest win nevada union has ever seen! i think. but we won last year as juniors 16-0, making us the only team ever to have two shut outs! doug and becky and mom and dad all came to my game. its was so special!

Here are the beautiful dresses Julia is working so diligently on. She already finished four of Becky's, and she just finished four of Cassie's. They are all turning out so cute! There are to be 9 dresses for Becky's bride's maids, and 7 for Cassie's, making a grand total of 16 dresses.

SURPRISE!!!

Natalie's face as she walked in the kitchen to a sea of 40-50 faces and a big yell of "SURPRISE!"

Kaitlyn Christensen and I planned a surprise birthday party for Natalie's 17th birthday. It was sooo fun, and she was VERY surprised, as you can see by her face.

This is the beautiful (and not to mention DELICOUS) double-layered cake that carl toro made. It was yellow cake on the bottom and chocolate on the top with whip cream and strawberries in between the two and bananas and whip cream on top.

Ecstatic.

Natalie was trying to blow out the candles but they were TRICK candles! so it was never ending. Plus it didn't help that she was cracking up the entire time and out of breath.

There was a good turn out. About 40-50 people showed up! :)

Everyone loves Natalie!!

This is the card I made for the Toros in appreciation of their loads of help. It's suppoosed to resemble the cake with the candles stuck inside the chocolate covered strawberries. I'm very proud of it.

I received my mission call to the Argentina Salta Mission, reporting July 22nd, Spanish speaking. I am really excited!! Salta, Argentina is in northern Argentina. My mission borders Bolivia, Chile, and Paraguay. This is a picture of the Salta Cathedral.

conference weekend & aebleskivers

Conference was excellent, didn't you think? I got a lot out of it and can't wait to re-read everything. Doug got up with me at 6:00am both mornings to watch it and helped keep me awake.

The only thing that could make it better was to discover this hidden treasure:
It was also quickly revealed that McDouglas is an aebleskiver maker extraordinaire and he now has a new specialty!

We've had this pan kicking around forever and i couldn't imagine what Kaity used it for, but Doug got it out and said it was for danish pancakes, and voila! we had pancake balls with hidden treasures inside (mainly chocolate chips, berries and bananas... yum)! I am hoping this will be the start of a delicious tradition.

I'm so glad that I get to see these two everyday. They always surprise you. This picture is a common site. Zeke shirtless of course and Gio sporting some new fashion trend--red tape on the forehead, okay--and holding something orange.

Danny made bread pudding this Easter! I'm guessing it was to honor grandma on such a beautiful and family day. It looked and tasted delicious! Danny puts meticulous detail into his creations and they always turn out very professional and original.

These Easter Fleggs are a tribute to Emily leaving for Honduras and for her friend going to Mexico.

Hello Everyone! I got my mission call today. Dad read it to me during one of the songs during the afternoon session of Conference! :) Thanks for all the support. I am going to Honduras Tegucigalpa mission!!!! And I leave May 13. That is so soon! And I put my availibilty date as June 10. All well. I guess it doesn'g matter. YAYAYAYAYA!!!

Joslin just told me that Emily's call is in the mail (it left Salt Lake on Saturday) and it is going to arrive in Nevada City (hopefully tomorrow). Danny had a dream that she got her call and she could choose between Florida and Peru. I am so excited to find out. Also, Ellie comes Saturday morning. We are so excited. What if they send her an April Fools mission call?

MISSION PAPERS

Incase you guys havent heard, I am going on a mission! My papers will be completely done and at The Church Head Quarters Tommorrow after my interview with the Stake President at 9:30am. YAY!!! I am so excited. Joslin is also working on her papers her availibility date is June 1. and mine is June 10. I am pretty nervous and REALLY REALLY excited at the same time. There are a lot of emotions running through my body. I know that I will be sent where I am needed most.
